Location QR Codes

What is a Location QR Code?

A Location QR code encodes a geo:latitude, longitude coordinate. Scanning opens the user’s default mapping app – Google Maps, Apple Maps, or similar – showing the precise point or enabling directions.

How Location QR Codes work

QRUpp encodes your location using the geo: URI scheme. When scanned, the phone’s map app opens directly to that coordinate, allowing users to view or navigate instantly.

Create a Location QR Code in QRUpp

  1. Log in to your account and click Links in the left hand menu, then Create Link.

Alternatively in Apple Maps, tap and hold to drop a pin, swipe up on the place card, and copy the coordinates shown.

  • Service points: car parks, drop‑off zones, collection points.

Tips for accuracy

  • Verify your coordinates in both Google Maps and Apple Maps.
  • Avoid rounding – keep 5+ decimal places for precision.
  • Include short signage text (e.g., “Scan for Directions”).
  • Test on iOS and Android to ensure the correct map opens.
  • Print at 25–35 mm minimum for reliable scanning.
